Corrosion behaviors of magnesium alloy in 1% NaCl solution containing NaF or Na2CO3 or borate(1g/L
respectively)were investigated by immersion and polarization curve. The results indicate that corrosion rates of Mg-7.3Al magnesium alloy in three buffered solution are decreased with immersion time extending
which tends towards stable state after immersion for 48 hours.Degrees of corrosion rate are as follows:NaCO3 more than borate more than NaF under the same immersion time.Corrosion potential is slightly increased with the presence of buffers
in which the highest corrosion potential can be observed in 1% NaCl solution containing Na2CO3.Buffering effects follows in the order:Na2CO3 more than NaF more than borate.Na2CO3 exhibits desirable buffered effect on the Mg-7.3Al magnesium alloy.
