Abstract
Effects of rolling temperature and cycle numbers on microstructure and properties of the AZ31 magnesium sheets during accumulative rolling-bonding (ARB) were investigated
and the mechanism of grain refinement in AZ31 magnesium alloy during ARB was described. It is found that the average grain size is decreased with the temperature increasing from 250 ℃ to 400 ℃ after the first cycle period in ARB. The AZ31 sheets with average grain size of 1.3 μm and elongation of 25.2% as well as tensile strength of 300 MPa can be obtained by ARB at 400 ℃ with 50% thickness reduction per pass after the second recycle during ARB.
