Influences of different heat treatment methods on the microstructure
compression properties and wear resistance of SiCp/AZ81 metal matrix composites were investigated. The experimental results showed that heat treatments can enhance the wear resistance of SiCp/AZ81 metal matrix composites
and solution treatment is the best method
compared with the cast SiCp/AZ81 metal matrix composites
and the wear resistance increase by 51.8%. Both aging treatment and solution + aging treatment can enhance compression properties of SiCp/AZ81 metal matrix composites
especially that compression strength reach 238.7 MPa after aging treatment. The main reason for the enhancement in the wear resistance and compression properties is that heat treatment will change the distribution and morphology of β-Mg17Al12 phase.
