Ni-Al2O3 nano-composite coating with high Al2O3 particles concentration was prepared by the electrophoretic-electrochemical deposition. Firstly
a uniform Al2O3 particle coating with an average size of 20 nm was deposited on a copper substrate by the electrophoretic method
then Ni was deposited into the substrate with Al2O3 particle coating by the electro-chemical method
finally the Ni-Al2O3 nano-composite coating with 55.6 Al2O3 particle in volumetric fraction were prepared successfully. Surface morphology and adhesive strength of the coating were examined. Compared with the pure Ni coating
the nano-composite coating exhibits more refine grain size with compact and uniform microstructure as well as higher adhesive strength.
