The silicon bronze was first successfully used for casting art statue of 10 meter high lion in China, which was installed in Macao. The composition, casting and welding techniques, and surface treatment of casting silicon bronze are investigated. The solution to avoid hot tear is also proposed. Compared with tin bronze, the silicon bronze has good casting and welding performance, and also lower cost. It will have wide prospect in the application of large casting art works.
