The microstructure of beta Ti alloy Ti-11Mo-6Zr-4Sn(TMA) in which some Mo and Sn are substituted by Cr
Fe and Ce was observed by XRD(X-ray diffraction)
SEM(scanning electron microscope) and EDS(energy dispersive spectrumeter)
and the elastic modulus as well as microhardness was measured by CSEM nano-indentation and micro-sclerometer.Furthermore
effects of alloying elements and homogenization treatment on microstructure and mechanical properties of the TMA were described. The results indicate that β phase structure in TMA is independent of the Ce and Fe addition after and before homogenization treatment.Although the dominant phase in the TMA is not affected
precipitation of a little α phase and ω phase can be observed in the TMA alloy after homogenization treatment with Ce and Sn addition. The Young’s modulus and micro-hardness of the TMA alloy are increased with Cr and Fe substituting for Mo and Sn
while they are decreased with Ce substituting for Mo.
