Interface reaction between TiNi alloy and BN based shell mold for investment casting Ti and its formation mechanism were described.The results show that thickness of reaction layer on castings surface makes only several micrometers even if pouring temperature of liquid TiNi alloy is 1600℃
exhibiting slight reaction between the BN based shell mold and TiNi alloy.So BN based shell mold can be substituted for Y2O3 or ZrO2 based shell mold to be used for shell-making of investment casting Ti alloy at a low pouring temperature.
