Rotating spraying process was applied to refine aluminum melt in order to obtain high purified melt to eliminate the pinhole and oxide inclusion in the idler pulleys and the pump wheels. The rotating spraying process is distinctly superior to the flux method in refining aluminum alloy through a series of comparative experiments.Optimized processing parameters of rotating spraying process for decreasing pinhole and oxide inclusion in the idler pulleys and the pump wheel were presented in the practical production conditions. The optimized processing parameters are as follows:refining at 720 ℃
the rotary speed of the sprayer of 480~500 r/min
gas flow of 1.6~2.0 m3/h
the adding rate of flux of 100~120 g/min and spraying for 20~25 min as well as holding for 20 min and so on.
