Mg-11Li-1Al-xNd alloy was prepared by vacuum electric arc melting method with argon atmosphere.Effects of different Nd content on microstructure and properties of the alloy were investigated by OM(optical microscope)
SEM(scanning electron microscope)
XRD(X-ray diffraction)
EDS(energy dispersive spectroscope
and micro-hardness tester.The results reveal that with increasing in Nd content
the grain size in the alloy is obviously refined with more homogeneous distribution and hardness of the alloy is increased.The desirable grain size in the alloy with maximum value of hardness can be obtained with approximately 3%Nd content.
