BFe10-1-1 alloy billets with 83 mm in diameters were prepared by horizontal continuous casting.Surface quality
microstructure and solute distribution of the BFe10-1-1 billets were described.The results indicate that the prepared billets exhibit smooth surface quality without oscillation marks.Macro-structure of prepared billets is composed of fine columnar grain in the edge and uniformly fine equiaxed grain in internal area
while microstructure exhibits the evolution characteristics of dense dendrite with orientation into equiaxed grain from edge to internal area.In addition
there exists solute element segregation to some certain in radial distribution of the prepared billets
and related countermeasures were put forward.
