Abstract
Aiming at the difficulty in purifying the high strength and heat resistant RE magnesium alloy and in mass loss of RE in the alloy
we have developed a flux JDRJ-6 to refine the Mg-Gd-Y(GW103K)alloy to understand effects of the flux containing varied YCl3 content on purification and mass loss of Y element
and it is compared with JDMJ flux and RJ-6 flux. The results reveal that after refined by JDRJ-6+2.5%YCl3
the loss of Y and corrosion rate of the alloy are decreased to 18.12% and 0.837 mg·cm-2·d-1
respectively
while the tensile strength and elongation are improved to 226.25MPa and 4.86%
