Cu-based composite coating was formed on the surface of 6061 aluminum alloy by laser cladding method. The microstructure and chemical composition of the coating were analyzed to understand effects of the change of cladding alloy composition on quality
micro-hardness and wear resistance of the coating. The results reveal that cladding coating is mainly composed of (Cu
Ni) solid solution
Cu9Al4
AlFe0.23Ni0.77 and CoFe phase. In condition of optimized chemical composition
with Fe and Co contents of 7%
9%
respectively
amounts of hard particle reinforcements are uniformly dispersedly distributed into Cu-Ni solid solution in cladding coating
which improves the wear resistance of the 6061 aluminum alloy matrix. Compared with those of 6061 aluminum alloy matrix
surface hardness of cladding coating is increased by 4.5 times
and frictional volume and frictional coefficient are decreased to 30% and to 0.301
