Y)-0.48Zn-0.52Zr alloy were analyzed by OM (optical microscope)
SEM (scanning electron microscope) and XRD (X-ray diffraction). Meanwhile
the mechanical properties at room temperature and at high temperature of two kinds of as-extruded samples were tested
and they were compared with those of extrusion +T5 heat treated ones. The results show that tensile strength of Mg-RE(Nd)-0.48Zn-0.52Zr reaches 79MPa at 300℃ while tensile strength of Mg-RE(Y)-0.48Zn-0.52Zr reaches 202.53MPa at 330℃. The Y element plays the obvious role in improving elevated tensile strength of the alloy.
