SiC particles reinforced aluminum matrix composites were fabricated by stirring casting
and effects of different stirring parameters on the particle distribution were analyzed. The distribution of particle in the matrix and phase constituent in the composites were investigated by SEM (scanning electron microscope) and XRD (X-ray diffraction). The results reveal that the SiC particle is uniformly distributed into the prepared composites in the absence of gas hole at stirring velocity of 680 r/min with impeller diameters of 60 mm and blade angle of 30°.Obvious particle deposition in the prepared composites is absent in condition of slow cooling rate. The MgAl2O4
Mg2Si phase can be observed in the composites with the absence of Al4C3 phase.
