Application of ceramic shell mold in elevated alloy directional solidification was reviewed
focusing on adding mineralizer and ultrafine alumina powder with the size of less than 10μm to increase chemical reactive activity of ceramic shell mold materials to promote the formation of the mullite
and adopting discontinuous or continuous fiber to strengthen mold shell
to improve the elevated strength and creep resistance of the shell mold.In addition
thermal shocking resistance of ceramic shell mold can be improved by increasing porosity in the ceramic shell mold and forming barrier layer at the layer.Furthermore
some problems in the ceramic shell molds were pointed out.
