Matrix microstructure and section sensitivity of HCC gray iron bars with diameters of 185 mm containing A type graphite or D type graphite were investigated by adding trace antimony. The results reveal that trace Sb addition can greatly increase the content of pearlite in the microstructure of gray iron matrix containing A type graphite or D type graphite
which is favorable for the increase of cross section hardness and tensile strength and the decrease of difference in cross section hardness as well as improvement of section sensitivity.
