Smelting-casting technology for Cu-Cr-Zr alloy under air atmosphere was analyzed.Effects of cover agent and de-oxidizer agent on oxide-burning rate and yield rate of alloying elements were investigated。 The results reveal that it is an effective way to improve the yield rate of alloying elements using Cu-Cr and Cu-Zr master alloy and de-oxidize with Cu-Mg master alloy.By using charcoal
graphite chip and a kind of special compound cover agent to protect and control alloy composition
a stable yield rate of alloying elements can be realized in holding time of 4~5 hours
where the yield rate of Cr and Zr reach 80%~90% and 60%~80%
respectively.Solid solution treated alloy exhibits compact structure with homogeneous distribution of Cr and Zr.The dominant phase is granular Cr and Cr2Zr
which are distributed in the matrix grains and grain boundaries. The large-tonnage continuous casting Cu-Cr-Zr alloy ingot can be produced successfully by smelting-casting under air atmosphere.
