The multi-element aluminum bronze coatings were prepared on polished 45 steel substrate by a supersonic plasma spraying system. The microstructure of coatings and element distribution in the costings were observed by XRD(X-ray diffraction)
SEM(scanning electron microscope)
EDS(energy dispersive spectrometer) and EPMA etc.The results show that the coatings prepared are composed of Cu9Al4
AlFe3 and AlFe phases
and the elements are distributed uniformly into the coatings. The hardness of the coatings prepared by supersonic plasma spraying is superior to that prepared by the traditional plasma spraying. The bonding strength of coatings reaches 59.3 MPa.Easy oxidation coatings similar to multi-aluminum bronze can be prepared by plasma spraying with optimized processing parameters.
