The ZL101 open-cell aluminum alloy foams were fabricated by pressure-infiltration with the matrix made by the soluble gypsum blocks
and then the aluminum alloy foams were treated by modification and T6 treatment.Effects of these treatments on energy-absorption capacity and energy absorption efficiency were investigated by the quasi-static compression testing. The results show that porosity of the aluminum alloy foams reach 89.3%~90.7%.Strength of the open-cell aluminum alloy foams can be effectively improved by modification and heat treatment
and high specific strength of open-cell aluminum alloy foam with specific strength of 2.2 and approximately 85% energy-absorption can be obtained.
