Effects of Electric Pulse Aging Time on Microstructure and Properties of Al-7Si-0.55Mg Alloy
The electric pulse was applied on Al-7 Si-0.55 Mg alloy during the aging process with the fixed pulse current
pulse frequency and duty ratio
and variable aging time. The results indicate that the aging time of Al-7 Si-0.55 Mg alloy can be effectively shortened by electric pulse
leading to the rapidly aging. Compared with conventional heat treatment
the hardness and electrical conductivity of Al-7 Si-0.55 Mg alloy are significantly improved after electric pulse aging treatment for 4~7 h. The elongation is 3.15% after electric pulse aging treatment for 5 h
which is higher than that of 3% of ones after conventional heat treatment
and the aging time is shortened by 3 h. The optimum process parameters of Al-7 Si-0.55 Mg alloy can be presented as follows: pulse current of 8 A
pulse frequency of 700 Hz
duty ratio of 0.5
aging temperature of 160 ℃ and aging holding time of 5 h.
