An Engineering Example of Microstructure and Properties Control of Titanium Alloy
The effects of heating temperature and cooling mode on microstructure and mechanical properties of mature titanium alloys were investigated. The results indicate that when the content of primary α phases is large and the strength is low
the amount of primary α phases in the microstructure of the alloy can be effectively reduced by increasing a high temperature pretreatment
annealing temperature or cooling rate
implementing the regulatory purposes of improving the tensile strength
high temperature lasting strength and fracture toughness. When the content of primary α phase is less and the plasticity and impact toughness are low
the amount of primary α phases can be increased by controlling the annealing and cooling rate in the two-phase region to achieve the regulatory purpose of improving the tensile plasticity and impact toughness.
