The feasibility of computed radiography in a swirler precision casting detection was investigated emphatically.CR experiments are designed for the swirler with a large thickness ratio characteristic by using X-ray machine

CRx25 Pscanners and imaging plate with high resolution.Thickness of swirler was compensated by mud mixing with barium sulfate powder

reducing undercut greatly.Wire type IQI sensitivity and gray value were used for evaluating image quality during CR experiments

and compared with traditional film radiography with Kodak AA400.Experimental results show that mean gray values for thin and thick part of swirler are 17 141 and 15 216

respectively

which locates in the linear response range of imaging plate.At the same time

image quality indicators of two parts reach 13

which are equal to corresponding results of traditional radiography

meeting the radiographic sensitivity requirements of inspection process of enterprise

therefore computed radiography is expected to replace traditional radiography for digital X-ray inspection of the swirler.
