Abstract

Through orthogonal experiment and adopting numerical simulation combining with practical pouring

effects of some factors

such as cylindrical cavities diameter

slit gate width and thickness

on filling and solidification process of aluminum alloy castings were investigated. The experimental results show that when the thickness of slit gate is 1 times of parts wall-thickness

and slit gate width is 35 mm

and cylindrical cavities diameter is 3

4 times of slit gate thickness

the filling process can be ensure to obtain good casting quality.
