Abstract
The experiments have been carried out on commerially pure cast Al-Si alloys It showed that addition of K affects both nucleution and growth of the Si phase. The solidification type of eutectic Al-Si changes from endogenous to exogenous by addition of K. The distribution of potassium has been found in Al-Si alloys by EPMA.
