Abstract
In this paper the experiments of suspension pouring of steel castings are carried out with step casting samples. The effects of
the quantities of dispersed inoculants introduced on the solidification characteristic have been investigated. In suspension pouring process the increase of cooling intensity during the solidification period will increase the tendency of volume solidification and decrease the solidification time. With the increasing of the quantity of dispersed inocu-lant
the volume of the shrinkage hole in the riser is decreased and the hole itself moves downwards. The equiaxial crystalline zone can be widened the crystalline grains caff become finer. The tendancy to shrinkage porsity
