The continuum model and numerical solution method proposed by the authors were ap- plied to the directional solidification processes of blade-like castings.Numerical simulation of the tem- perature
solid fraction and solutional concentration distributions and the pressure and velocity fields of liquid phase flow in the directional solidification of blade-shaped model castings were performed.With a software system of BSTVCCAL developed by the authors
the influences of different kinds of varying technological parameters
such as varying withdrawal velocity V(t) and varying heating temperature Ttt (t)
on the dendrite structure variations and macrosegregations in the modeled blade castings were stud- ied at the aim for obtaining an optimal technological design for a directional solidification process of blades.
