    Abstract

    Effect of sulfur on chilling tendency and S/Si ratio on annealing time and graphite morphology for high duty cast iron with high sulfur content in metallic mould was studied. Experimental results indicated that the appropriate sulfur silicon contents were S=0.2% ̄0.4%, Si=2.0% ̄2.5%, S/Si>0.1. It was suggested that S/Mn played important role for graphite morphology. The mechanism of sulfur effect was discussed.
