    Abstract

    The characteristics of the microstructure and the strength properties of aluminum matrix composites reinforced with γ Al 2O 3 long fibre, δ Al 2O 3 chopped fibre or SiC particulate by die casting infiltration technique was studied. It is shown that Al matrix composites with high filtration quality and heat treated ability could be prepared with industrial die casting machine through the optimization of process condition. The composites, having ideal process quality、microstructure and strength properties up to or over prediction value by mixture law, are similar to those with 130 MPa tensile strength by squeezing infiltration technique.
