CAD for molding tool of diesel engine block cylinder in static pressure casting was conducted using UGII software Sun SPARC station20. Based on the visibility and inspectility of 3D synthetic modeling
the problems in molding tool design
such as the accurate transference of inner cavity and outer surface from casting to molding tool
the optimum distribution of sand core for inner mold cavity and the inspection of assembly dimension of mold cavity
have been solved
which laid a foundation for CAM. Some key points and effective parameters in molding tool design have been offered too.
