Effects of magnetic field intensity and frequency on melt meniscus shape
microstructure and distribution of solute element in 7075 aluminum alloy in CREM semi-continuous casting were investigated experimentally. The results showed that with increasing in magnetic field intensity and decreasing in frequency the position of primary solidified shell forming dropped
melt cave depth shallowed
concentration of solute element in the crystal significantly increased
solid solubility and hardness rised. Accordingly near spheroidal grain in ingot increased and rosette-shaped grains decreased
resulting in finer and more homogeneous microstructure at all.
