Several special casting methods,including gravity casting,low pressure die casting,die casting and squeeging casting etc.,to prepare Mg based bulk metallic glass（BMG）were presented.Their technique,tooling design,chilling principle and final effects obtained were expounded.It was indicated that there was no difference of melt cooling behavior between in water-cooled copper mold and in copper mold within 30 s before solidification and that liquid quenching exhibited more significant efficiency in die casting and also that 10 mm Mg 65 Cu 15 Y 10 Ag 10 based BMG was prepared in squeeging casting.The future development of Mg based BMG preparation trended toward fast rate,simplicity and near net shape.
