Design of Squeeze Casting Process and Die Structure for Mg Alloy
The indirect squeezing casting process and the die structure for the Mg alloy were investigated. With full sealed quantitative pneumatic transporting system and air removal from die cavity with N 2 or Ar gas. It is effective to prevent Mg alloy from oxidation and ignition during transpotation
pouring and forming. In the case of filling rate 2.0~2.5 m/s and squeezing force 500 kN
the Mg alloy castings with sound structure was produced. Specially designed independent heating device was used for heating the plunger and the sleeve in the quantitative chamber up to 450~500 ℃. The single clearance between plunger and the sleeve equaled 0.02~ 0.05 mm.
