    Abstract

Anodization was one of most effective and most common technology used for all kinds of Mg surface treatment. The classical anodizing processes of Dow17 and HAE for Mg, were compared in all its aspects with the environmentally friendly process, denoted as Starter. The results showed that the choice of anodizing parameters had a very important effect on the courses and results of anodization. The anodic films with different color, uniformity, roughness, corrosion and wear resistance as well as bonding with Mg-matrix etc. were greatly dependant on the varieties of processing parameters.
