Effects of Frequency on Microstructure of 4045 Aluminum DC Casting under Electromagnetic Field
The difference of microstructures of 4045 aluminum alloy ingots with 100 mm in diameter cast by DC and LFEC (low frequency electromagnetic casting) processes was compared.The effects of electromagnetic frequency
ranging in 10~50 Hz
on the microstructure of 4045 aluminum alloy castings were focused on.The results showed that electromagnetic frequency greatly affects the microstructure of as-cast ingot.Uniform microstructure can be obtained and primary α-Al grain size and secondary dendrite are reduced
and eutectic Si phase transformed from bar into point-like with the decrease of frequency from 50 Hz to 15 Hz.
