The formation and evolution of microstructure of the semi-solid ZL101 alloy slurry prepared by rotating duct were observed under conditions of different processing variables. The exprimental results showed that the spheroidal semi-solid microstructure can be obtained by controlling processing variables, including pouring temperature (640 ℃),rotating velocity of the duct (232 r/min) and cooling intensity of the crystallizer(preheating 470 ℃).The effective nucleation numbers of the molten alloy can be increased at a proper pouring temperature and rotating velocity of the duct.It is benefit to growth of primary near-spheroidal α phase by reducing cooling intensity of the crystallizer.
