    Abstract

    Aiming at liquid Ti alloy having reactive chemical properties,the electromagnetic casting technology for Ti alloy in cold crucible was investigated.The effects of processing parameters on the surface quality and microstructure of the billet were researched also.The results showed that drawing velocity has an obvious effect on the surface quality and macrostructure of the billet.Heat power significantly affects the surface quality,in turn slightly affects the macrostructure.The Ti alloy castings with smooth surface and once-through directional microstructure can be realized by optimizing the processing parameters.The formation mechanism of crack and structure defects during electromagnetic casting was investigated.The large round Ti alloy billet with smooth free crack and column crystalline can be obtained.
