    Abstract

    A coupled macro-microcosmic model (direct difference -cellular automaton model,namely CA-DD model) was built up to simulate the competitive growth process of crystal in heated mould continuous casting based on macro-microcosmic coupling method.The effects of processing parameters on the liquid-solid interface morphology and crystal competitive growth were investigated also.The results indicate that macro-microcosmic coupling method is efficient and feasible for simulating the microstructure evolution and effects of variables on microstructure formation.
