Research on Technology of Preparation of Semisolid Slurry of Aluminum Alloy by Ultrasonic Vibration
The technology of preparation of semisolid slurry of metals by ultrasonic vibration has been studied
including the processing parameters
formation mechanism of non-dendritic crystals
and microstructure of special semi-solid aluminum alloys. Results show that direct ultrasonic vibration on molten melt could make out semi-solid slurry with tiny crystals in a very short time
and this method had the characteristics of simple equipment
short flow
easy maintenance and good stirring effect. By this process the primary Si phase in hyper-eutectic Al-Si alloy A390 could be minimized to about 20 μm; and the primary non-dendritc α-Al crystals in hypoeutectic Al-Si alloy 356 were small and near spherical.
