Effects of Cooling Rate on Primary Si in Hypereutectic Al-Si Alloy
Effects of cooling rate on primary Si in hypereutectic Al-Si alloy prepared by electromagnetic stirring were investigated. Experiment indicates that continuous cooling rate can refine primary Si in hypereutectic Al-Si alloy in e-lectromagnetic stirring. The primary Si can be increasingly refined due to the increase of the nucleation rate with the increase of the cooling rate in the range of 3 癈/min
10 癈/min under the condition of electromagnetic stirring current of 10 A while the grain size will become coarse due to the aggregation of nucleated primary Si with the increase of the cooling rate in range of 10C /min
