Effects of Cryogenic Treatment on Microstructure and Properties of Al2O3 Particle and Fibre Hybrid Reinforced Aluminum Matrix Composites
particle and fibre hybrid reinforced aluminum matrix composites were prepared by the extruding-infiltration method. Effects of cryogenic treatment on microstructure and mechanical properties of the composites were understood by X-ray and SEM. The results show that although the hardness is decreased
tensile strength of the composites is increased
showing somewhat brittle fracture
which is relevant to Si phase change before-and-after cryogenic treatment.
