Variation of liquid during compression of semi-solid ZK60-RE alloy at high solid content is studied in this paper. The results show that liquid path can form in a small strain. With increase the strain, the liquid path varies to decrease the stress, which means the thixotropic behaviour. When the strain rate was relatively low, liquid was squeezed out and formed liquid paths with a low speed and had enough time to gather gradually to make the flow stress progressively decrease;when the strain rate was relatively high, liquid formed liquid paths in a very short time and did not have enough time to absorb other liquid during compression.
