Effects of Ni on Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Beryllium-aluminum Alloys
Microstructure and mechanical properties of as-cast Be-Al alloy with different Ni content have been investigated by tensile testing
OM and TEM. The results reveal that the microstructure of as-cast Be-Al alloy consists of Be phase embedded into Al phase matrix
where Ni is distributed into Be phase to strengthen the matrix alloy. Ni content has greatly affected the ambient tensile strength
yield strength and hardness. The optimized comprehensive mechanical properties can be obtained by adding 4% Ni. The fracture morphology is composed of ductile rupture of Al phase and quasi-cleavage rupture of Be phase.
