The excellent thermal conductivity of a copper provides a series of advantages for the copper cooling stave such as small thermal stress
strong ability to produce and hold the slag layer
and to endure the thermal impingement. So it is said that the copper cooling stave is the most satisfied chose for the blast furnace. However
the copper stave is so costly that its actual application is a little for a long time. Using the copper/steel composite material to produce the stave may be a valuable way to solve the problem because of not only the high conductivity and the mechanical properties
but also of the lower price of the copper/steel stave than that of the copper stave. In fact the same effects as the copper stave has been obtained experimentally and simulated. It is suggested that the semisolid/solid rheologically compositing is the most useable technology to produce the copper/steel cooling stave. The further study tasks on it are to have some optimizing researches such as the constructs
