Solidification Simulation for HSi80-3 Silicon Brass Rudder Bonnet
The solidification simulation for HSi80-3 silicon brass rudder bonnet by the Procast software has been conducted based on two kinds of gating systems to investigate the potential shrinkage hole (porosity) position in the castings. The results show that the severe shrinkage hole in the main body of the rudder bonnet can be visualized by using the first filling process while the shrinkage hole (porosity) can be effectively eliminated by the second filling process due to order solidification from top to bottom. Based on above simulated results
the second filling process was adopted
and production verification has been conducted. The results show that the defects
including shrinkage hole (porosity)
can be eliminated by adopting second filling process
