Numerical Simulation and Quantitative Assessment of Particle Distribution in SiC/Al-Si Composites
Research methodology and development of quantitative analysis on particle distribution in particle reinforced metal matrix composites have been presented on the basis of macro and micro simulation of solidification process of SiC particle reinforced Al-7Si composites made by stirring casting
and the quadrat method and variance analysis method are considered in the numerical simulation.Effects of particle volume fraction on particle distribution homogeneity have been investigated
and the simulated results were compared with experimental ones.The results show that the effects of different technical parameters on microstructure and particle distribution can be analyzed accurately when macro and micro numerical simulation are coupled with quantitative analysis techniques.
