Fabrication of Magnesium/aluminum Laminated Composites by Diffusion Bonding and Its Interface Properties
Magnesium/aluminum laminated composites were fabricated by diffusion bonding method
and interfacial characteristics were measured by nano-indentation to know how to improve the interfacial properties of heat treated composites. The results reveal that laminated composites with desirable bonding can be prepared by the diffusion bonding with three sets of processing parameters
including 400 ℃/30 MPa/10 min
400 ℃ /40 MPa/10 min
400 ℃/30 MPa/20 min
however
the diffusion layer is not visible in the condiions of 400 ℃/30 MPa/10 min.Diffusion layer thickness of the composites can be remarkably increased with heat treatment
and nano-hardness of diffusion zone is 3 times higher than that of the matrix
and the Young’s modulus is located in the range of that of magnesium alloy and aluminum alloy.
