Microstructure and Properties of Sparking Deposited Composite Coating on Electrode Surface
The microstructure and mechanical properties of the composite coating deposited on the electrode surface by a vibrating electro-sparking deposited process have been characterized by X-ray diffraction
scanning electron microscope
energy dispersive X-ray analysis
micro-hardness tests and welding experiment. The results show that coating is composed of TiC
Cu and CuNi2Ti
characterized by splashed pit and crack in surface
which exhibits desirable metallurgical bonding between coating and the matrix. The micro-hardness of composite coating reaches 1 144 with 1 N loading. Compared with that of coating free electrode
the service life of ones by electro-sparking deposited composite coating can be increased by 2.4 times.
