Process Problems and Defects in Ohno Continuous Casting Pure Copper
We have developed a vertical down-drawing Ohno continuous casting equipment to produce single crystal pure copper rod. During the Ohno continuous casting
the possible shrinkage porosity and gas hole defects in the rod could be generated in the rod as a result of oxidation and entrapped-gas of liquid cooper
and adhesion of the mould with the billet could be formed with un-rational deoxidizer addition
and the accidents of leakage and freezing would happen with un-rational technological parameter matching. The wettability between glass fusant
liquid copper and inner surface of the crucible has the severe effects on covered effects with the glass as cover agent. The single crystal copper rod with excellent quality can be produced with optimized processing parameters
such as cooling distance for 180 mm
outlet temperature of mould at 1 092
1
132 ℃
drawing velocity at 0.017
0
.470 mm/s
0.6% Cr as deoxidizer
glass as cover agent and protection of mould outlet with N2 or water gas.
