Numerical Simulation on Magnetic Penetrating Performance of Soft-Contact Electromagnetic Casting Rectangular Mould for Duraluminium Alloys
the three dimensional magnetic field in rectangular soft-contacting electromagnetic continuous casting (EMCC) mould is numerically investigated through ANSYS software. The results show that the overlap of electromagnetic flux appears distinctly at the corner of rectangular soft-contact mold; The largest magnetic intensity can be obtained while the free surface of liquid duraluminium alloy locating at the center of induction coil; A prime magnetic intensity can be attained with a 5 mm to 10 mm distance between induction coil and fire-resistant material; Stainless mould can obtain 1.5-2 times magnetic intensity more larger than 5052 aluminum mould.
