Effects of Ce,Ca and Sr Mixing Addition on Corrosion Behavior of AZ91 Alloy
0.2%Ca and 0.2%Sr mixing addition on corrosion resistance of AZ91 magnesium alloy in 3.5%NaCl aqueous solution were examined by static weight loss and metallographical observation. The results indicate that the 0.5%Ce
0.2%Ca and 0.2%Sr mixing addition can greatly decrease the corrosion rate of the alloy
and the corrosion resistance of the alloy is evidently superior to that of AZ91 matrix and to that of the alloy with only 0.5% Ce addition
which is attributed to the 0.5%Ce
0.2%Ca and 0.2%Sr mixing addition evidently refining the grain size of α-Mg phase and relieving the segregation of Al element as well as changing bulk β-Mg17Al12 phase into discontinuous net-like ones.
